As the weekend approaches, it's time to get together with friends and dance the week away to fat house beats. Dutch newcomer CRUePO has just the right recipe for this, along with MKJ, whose famous cover of "Pumped Up Kicks" is cracking the 100 million stream mark. A hint of minimalist instrumentation is introduced until the song finally culminates with a beautiful mix of horn stabs, thick bass and sing-along vocals that you can not get enough of. This is thanks to New Yorker B Martin, who makes a brilliant dance beat even more danceable with his anthemic songwriting!
CRUePO (Otto Kruip) is a Dutch DJ and producer, born and raised in the east of the Netherlands. With his love and passion for harmony and rhythm, he creates electronic dance music that caresses the heart. With new sounds and creative freshness, he lets the world know what he is capable of. With his DJ sets, he lifts the feet by playing a combination of beautiful melodies and banging beats. Some clubs he has played at are: Jimmy Woo (Amsterdam), Dynamo (Eindhoven), PKHS (Tilburg) and many more.
MKJ is a dreamer. He had to be in order to survive. At the tender age of six, he lived with his family as a war refugee in a tent. The little Kurdish boy dreamed of one day moving far away, to the world he saw in Hollywood movies and on TV. Surrounded by war and unrest, the dream seemed impossible, but after years of practicing and producing beats on his computer, he moved to the United States at the age of 22 and began seriously pursuing his music career. In 2017, an unofficially released track by the DJ /producer called Time found its way from MKJ's SoundCloud page to Greater China, where it became a meme and a viral sensation
The song, with its signature saxophone dance break, has spawned some 4 million TikTok videos, over 500 million streams, 210,000 NetEase comments, and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Shazam charts in China. All of this led to worldwide touring opportunities and an exclusive distribution agreement with Chinese music tech giant NetEase Cloud. A new vocal version of the track from the eclectic artist's follow-up album EP Time After Time reached #2 on NetEase's viral chart, while follow-up singles propelled him into the top 100 most-streamed Western artists on NetEase Cloud. As of 2020, MKJ is signed to Soave Records and has his biggest hit to date with "Pumped Up Kicks."
