How To Increase Your Happiness & Productivity

When you accept yourself, the world accepts you.

What does happiness really mean?

For many decades, we were taught the standard blueprint of life: Get good grades in high school, go to college, and use your degree to get a great job that pays a reasonable salary. If you can accomplish that, you’ll live a happy life.

At least that’s what they said.

But if you speak to the average person asking what happiness means to them, the vast majority will state that they simply want stable finances, a healthy family, and a good quality of life.

So why aren’t we all happy?

“On the one hand, we all want to be happy. On the other hand, we know the things that make us happy. But we don’t do those things. Why? Simple. We are too busy. Too busy doing what? Too busy trying to happy. That’s the paradox we live in”.

Redefining happiness.

To progress your life in a new direction, you first need to define what happiness means to you.

Will watching 2 hours of Netflix every day make you happy? Do that.

Will the pursuit of trying to become a successful entrepreneur make you happy? Do that.

Will spending time with family & friends give you fulfillment in life? Do that.

We are continually bombarded with messages as to how we can live a happy life. We get caught up in clickbait titles claiming that “if you do these 3 activities, you’ll instantly be happy”. But that’s just lies.

The truth is that happiness is insular. It is an emotion that only you can control.

Nothing else matters.

Because if you were to die tomorrow, would it be worth wasting your final few hours not enjoying these precious moments?

How can you find happiness?

Explore who you are. Choose a particular aspect of your life, and spend as much time as possible developing yourself into who you wish to be. Do you want to learn Spanish? Spend 15–20 minutes a day when you come home from work learning common phrases. Do you want to become an Instagram influencer? Constantly study the algorithm and network with people in your niche.

“The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have”.

Accept your imperfections.

Nobody is perfect. We all have insecurities, imperfections, and things we wish could be fixed within our lives. But that’s what makes us human. Eat that pizza. Drink that beer. Sleep in until 10 am. Do whatever you want. Live your definition of a perfect life. Because when you accept yourself, the world accepts you.
